Roadrunner Transportation Services is a shipping company based out of Milwaukee, IL, in transportation since 1984. However, time and experience only sometimes bring excellent management out of a company, and this is not one of those times. Though Roadrunner touts that they value safety, intelligence, and community above all on their “about us” page, their employees express anything but that. Many from Roadrunner Transportation have stated that the company failed them in numerous ways.

Understanding the issues of Roadrunner Transportation

All testimonies below are from previous employees of Roadrunner Transportation who posted on Indeed regarding the company’s state:

  • Extremely taxing for operators, and drivers get very little to no sleep.
  • Repairs and Maintenance are preformed sometimes, but the operator will be asked to fix the vehicle in most others.
  • A quote from a past employee says, “If you can stay in college, avoid this company. The company treats you like a number. The trucks are poorly maintained, and the trailers are drop and hook with bad tires and brake problems. Suspension problems!”

As well as this, management is only one of many problems; the metric by which trucks and/or drivers are allowed onto the road is also as critical an issue. According to the statistics provided by Quick Transport Solutions, there were 9 crashes in the year 2023, 4 of which caused injuries upon crashing. In 2022, the number of hits was 15, 6 of which caused injuries, totaling 24 accidents in less than 2 years. As can be seen from these statistics, crashes occur with Roadrunner Transportation and are being treated as a cost of doing business, even while people’s lives are being affected. They do not seem to mind if the drivers and people they affect suffer, as showcased by this company’s only increasing rate of accidents. This lack of care shows that this company’s trucks are insufficient, or the people that operate them must be adequately trained. As such, these trucks are likely inadequate in many other ways, likely including braking and suspension, as the testimonials from past workers suggest. Roadrunner Transportation looks to cut costs in many ways, not limited to the safety of their employees and other civilians they drive with.
