Vehicle Strikes and Fatally Injures Cyclist in North Natomas

Car accident in Sacramento

In Sacramento’s North Natomas area, a tragic event unfolded on Tuesday as a fatal car accident occurred, resulting in numerous road closures in the vicinity. The incident took place near the crossroads of Club Center and Banfield Drives, involving a collision between a vehicle and a bicyclist.

The circumstances leading up to the accident have not yet been made clear. However, Sacramento Police were swift in their response, confirming the collision and stating that the bicyclist, whose identity has been withheld, was urgently transported to the hospital.

Despite the immediate medical attention, the cyclist succumbed to the injuries sustained and passed away shortly thereafter. As the news broke, Sacramento City Councilmember Lisa Kaplan, who is the representative for the district where the distressing collision occurred, issued a statement to the public.

Councilmember Kaplan alerted the community to the recent spike in fatalities, underscoring the critical need for heightened awareness and precaution on the roads. “Please drive, bike, and walk safely,” she implored, connecting this incident to a harrowing statistic: “There has been three deaths in the city these past 24 hours between vehicles and bike/walkers,” Kaplan noted.

Authorities have ruled out the involvement of drugs and alcohol in this incident, indicating that neither were contributing factors in the crash. Further investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the accident and to develop preventative measures to avoid future tragedies.
