Van Suffers Major Damage in Collision with SacRT Train in Rancho Cordova

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA — A collision involving a Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) light rail train and a van resulted in significant vehicle damage and service disruptions in Rancho Cordova on Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred near the intersection of Folsome Boulevard and Marketplace Lane before 2:45 p.m., according to Sacramento Metro Fire officials.

The impact of the crash left the van with substantial damage to its front end and driver’s side. Upon emergency responders’ arrival, the van’s driver side door was found bent out of shape with all windows shattered and the windshield severely compromised.

The van driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and is said to be in stable condition. In the wake of the crash, California Highway Patrol and Rancho Cordova Police were dispatched to the scene to conduct an investigation into the cause of the incident. Further details regarding the driver’s identity and the events leading up to the accident have not yet been released.
