Car accident in Sacramento

In Sacramento, two teenagers were apprehended on Sunday following a high-speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle, which concluded with the car crashing into a tree near Interstate 80.

The incident began shortly after 5 p.m. when Sacramento Police officers noticed the stolen vehicle around Northgate Boulevard and San Juan Road. According to Officer Cody Tapley, the spokesperson for Sacramento Police Department, the patrol attempted to initiate a traffic stop as the car accelerated away.

Despite activating lights and sirens, the suspects’ vehicle did not comply, leading officers to engage in a chase. The pursuit transitioned into “surveillance mode” as the suspects navigated the South Natomas neighborhood, while being monitored by a police helicopter.

The high-speed chase came to an abrupt end when the stolen car left the roadway at the on-ramp to eastbound Interstate 80 at West El Camino Avenue, colliding with a nearby tree. Immediately following the crash, the driver and one passenger attempted escape on foot but were quickly apprehended by the authorities.
