On the morning of Thursday, a severe multi-vehicle collision in Carmichael resulted in critical injuries for two individuals. The incident, involving four vehicles, required emergency response from both the California Highway Patrol and fire personnel, and coincided with the busy rush hour traffic on Madison Avenue close to Hackberry Lane.
Following the impact, rescuers had to use Jaws of Life to free two victims from the wreckage of their cars. These individuals were rushed to nearby hospitals, where their condition was listed as critical. In addition to the two critically injured, two other persons suffered minor injuries, with one necessitating medical attention at a hospital facility.
Images from the scene shared by authorities depicted a chaotic sight, with at least three cars showcasing extensive front-end destruction. A black Ford Mustang was notably amongst the damaged, showing heavy damage to both the front and rear ends of the vehicle.
Local authorities closed eastbound Madison Avenue for investigative purposes for approximately one hour following the collision, resulting in significant traffic delays. The thoroughfare was later reopened, with law enforcement urging commuters to drive cautiously in the aftermath of the crash.
