In a tragic incident on the evening of May 21, 2024, a fatal car accident claimed the life of a 62-year-old man from Granite Bay and injured several others in Sacramento, California. The collision, involving a suspected drunk driver, occurred on Fulton Avenue at approximately 5:37 p.m. and is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
According to CHP’s preliminary report, a Dodge pickup truck was traveling south on Fulton Avenue when it was rear-ended by a Toyota SUV at high speed. The forceful impact caused the Dodge to go off the road and crash. The Toyota did not stop after the initial collision and proceeded to collide with another vehicle, a Volkswagen SUV.
The driver of the Dodge, identified by the Sacramento County coroner as Douglas Anderson, was pronounced dead as a result of the accident. Meanwhile, a passenger from his vehicle was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation. Additionally, the Volkswagen driver and her infant were also transported to hospital facilities for treatment of their injuries.
Authorities arrested the driver of the Toyota SUV under the suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
