MERCED, CA – Tragedy struck in Merced County on the evening of March 03, 2024, when a 39-year-old man, Christopher Moore, was hit and killed by a passenger train. The fatal incident took place near the intersection of Winton Way and Santa Fe Drive at approximately 11 p.m. as Moore was reportedly walking along the tracks toward Sacramento.
The Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim’s identity shortly after the accident. Despite rapid response efforts, Moore, who was a resident of Winton, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
