EAST COUNTY, CA (April 10, 2024) — A tragic incident occurred on Monday evening in the East County region of California, taking the life of a motorcycle rider. At approximately 5:10 p.m. on La Cresta Road, near Coyote Ridge Lane, a 53-year-old man from El Cajon, while riding his Yamaha motorcycle eastbound, collided with a Kia Forte that was making a left turn from a nearby driveway.
The force of the impact caused severe injuries to the motorcyclist, who was subsequently rushed to the hospital by emergency personnel. Despite the urgent medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries. The rider’s identity has yet to be disclosed by officials pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the Kia, a 37-year-old woman also from El Cajon, sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening. She reported to law enforcement that she did not see the motorcyclist approaching before the collision. It remains unclear if she will face any charges as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating the accident and is calling for witnesses or anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
