Fatal Collision: Driver Perishes Upon Impact, Other Vehicle Thrust into Suspected DUI Path Near Sacramento

In a tragic turn of events north of Sacramento near Antelope, a multi-vehicle collision has resulted in one fatality and another individual under arrest for DUI. According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Tuesday night just before 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Elverta Road and Dominion Way.

The series of events was set into motion when a truck waiting at the intersection was hit from behind by another truck. The force of the impact propelled the stationary vehicle into the crossroads, where it was then struck by a third truck.

The man operating the second truck, believed to be in his 60s or 70s, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision. His identity has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

In the aftermath of the incident, the driver of the third truck did not remain at the scene. However, law enforcement officials later apprehended the motorist who now faces charges for fleeing the accident site and driving while impaired. Notably, the driver has been cleared of charges related to the actual crash and the ensuing death on the grounds that they were not responsible for the collision.

The young driver of the initial truck, which was hit twice, miraculously survived the ordeal without sustaining any injuries. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the root cause of the primary collision, with further details pending their ongoing inquiry.
