In a tragic turn of events in Arden Arcade, a motorist lost their life Wednesday morning after a vehicular incident involving a silver SUV, a white Toyota Prius, and a streetlight pole. The collision occurred at the intersection of Watt and El Camino avenues, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Officials received notification of the accident shortly before 8:40 a.m. Upon impact with the Prius, the SUV proceeded to crash into a light pole with enough force to result in a fatality. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District’s Battalion Chief Parker Wilbourn confirmed the series of events leading to the devastating outcome.
Tragedy struck the passenger of the SUV, who succumbed to their injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. The Prius’s driver sustained minor injuries and after being evaluated, was released. Miraculously, the SUV driver walked away from the collision unhurt.
As the investigation unfolds, the CHP is diligently working to piece together the circumstances leading up to the collision. Officer Justin Fetterly of the North Sacramento CHP office, tasked with public communications, has yet to issue further details regarding the incident.
The surrounding community has been alerted to possible traffic delays and disruptions as the investigation continues on-site. Authorities are asking anyone who might have witnessed the accident or has information related to the incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing inquiry.
