CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. — A severe traffic incident in Citrus Heights has left one individual critically injured and transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision that resulted in one car striking a tree.
The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reported that emergency crews had to extricate an unconscious victim from the wreckage. The victim was subsequently hospitalized with serious injuries, though their current condition has not been disclosed.
The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. near the intersection of Old Ranch Road and Oak Avenue. The Citrus Heights Police Department is actively investigating the cause of the mishap but has confirmed that driving under the influence is not suspected.
Due to the crash, authorities have closed both east and westbound lanes of Old Ranch Road and have advised motorists to seek alternative travel routes while the investigation and cleanup are underway.
