Arrest Made in Hit-and-Run Incident Involving Pedestrian

SACRAMENTO, CA – A hit-and-run incident on April 14, 2024, resulted in the injury of three homeless individuals in Sacramento, according to authorities. The Sacramento Police Department reported that the collision occurred on Dos Rios Street between North B and D streets, when a black SUV veered onto the sidewalk and struck a tent housing the victims.

Following the crash, emergency responders transported the three injured parties to a local hospital, with two of them sustaining critical injuries. Shortly after the incident, Sacramento Police apprehended Jesus Banegas and charged him with multiple felony hit-and-run charges related to the injuries caused by the collision.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing as detectives gather evidence and work to determine factors that contributed to the event.
