36-Year-Old Jose Valladolid Ramirez Fatally Struck by DUI Suspect on Fruitridge Road in Sacramento

Sacramento, CA — A 36-year-old bicyclist, Jose Valladolid Ramirez, was fatally injured in a suspected DUI-related traffic collision late Monday night, June 10, 2024. The incident took place in an industrial area of South Sacramento. Local authorities responded to the scene of the accident on Fruitridge Road, west of 88th Street.

The Sacramento Fire Department received the emergency call around 10:30 PM and upon arrival, they discovered Ramirez unresponsive. Despite immediate emergency medical attempts, the bicyclist succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the location of the crash.

According to Officer Anthony Gamble, a spokesperson for the police department, initial investigations have led officials to believe that the motorist was operating the vehicle while impaired. The driver, who sustained injuries during the accident, remains in the hospital. According to official statements, the motorist will be charged with drug possession and driving under the influence following a medical release.

As the case is still under examination, further details surrounding the tragic event are anticipated. Police are conducting a comprehensive investigation to determine the full circumstances of the fatal collision.
