Woman Faces Charges After a Catastrophic Wrong-Way Collision on 405 Freeway in California

On a congested morning on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles, a high-speed chase ended in a dramatic vehicular collision involving multiple police cruisers and civilian cars.

41-year-old Lisa Ann Heflin, originally from Oakview, Mo., faced multiple felony charges following her near-destructive engagement with the Los Angeles Police Department. The white van operated by Heflin became the catalyst of the chaos that caused injuries to nine LAPD officers and resulted in over $150,000 in damages.

The suspect was charged with 10 counts of assault upon a peace officer, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, along with other serious offenses including reckless driving and fleeing from law enforcement, which compounded her legal troubles.

The police recount the pursuit as a harrowing and perilous endeavor, which incurred injuries to officers and compromised the safety of numerous individuals and their properties. The incident unfolded during peak morning hours, precipitating significant traffic disruption and posing grave risks to public safety. A mother of four, Heflin’s online presence portrayed a contrasting image to the individual involved in the hazardous incident that shocked the city.
