SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (June 7, 2024) – On Thursday evening, a high-speed police chase on South Hoover Street in South Los Angeles resulted in injuries to a LAPD officer and an uninvolved motorist.
The Los Angeles Police Department reports that the incident occurred on May 30, when officers attempted to pull over a white Mercedes suspected of being stolen at approximately 11:30 p.m. The driver allegedly failed to comply and initiated a high-speed pursuit.
The chase soon led to an accident, with a police vehicle crashing into a street bench close to West Jefferson Boulevard, near the University of California campus.
Further into the pursuit, roughly two miles from the first collision, the suspect’s vehicle struck another car that was not involved in the pursuit. The police officer involved in the initial crash and the driver of the second vehicle were both transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
