Los Angeles, CA – Early morning of May 27, 2024, saw a tragic turn of events as a single-vehicle collision resulted in the deaths of two people in the Wilmington neighborhood of Los Angeles. The accident occurred at around 2:10 AM on Alameda Street, as reported by officials.
An SUV was headed southbound on Alameda Street when it collided with a concrete center divider under an overpass. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to burst into flames. Unfortunately, both occupants inside the vehicle did not survive the incident.
The Los Angeles Fire Department promptly responded to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire. However, despite their efforts, both the driver and the passenger were declared deceased at the location of the crash. The identity of the victims has not been released pending notification of next of kin. It is currently unclear whether safety belts were in use at the time of the crash.
The aftermath of the incident was apparent, with severe damage to the surrounding infrastructure. The crash left a metal guardrail, which fronted the concrete divider, completely distorted from the force of the impact.
