LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Tragedy struck Universal Studios Hollywood on the night of April 20th when a tram accident resulted in 15 injuries, one of which was critical. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that the incident occurred when the tram, navigating a curve, collided with a metal guardrail and tipped over, causing passengers to be ejected.
The accident prompted a swift response from the Los Angeles County Fire Department who attended to those injured. While the majority of injuries were deemed minor, one individual was faced with severe injuries warranting hospitalization.
Following the event, Universal Studios Hollywood released a statement expressing concern for the well-being of the guests involved and relayed their commitment to safety. They also conveyed that they are cooperating fully with the California Highway Patrol, which is leading the investigation into the specifics of the crash. The park assured that the review of their safety protocols is ongoing in the aftermath of the accident.
Authorities are reminding the public that liability for amusement park accidents can extend to various parties, including the park owner, attraction designer, tour operator, government entity, or product manufacturer.
