Three Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Westbound 10 Freeway Near Palms

Los Angeles, CA (April 7, 2024) – A tragic collision involving three vehicles on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway near the Palms area has resulted in one fatality and left three individuals severely injured. The crash took place in the early hours of Sunday, at approximately 1:50 a.m., near the Overland Ave exit on the westbound lanes, according to the authorities of the California Highway Patrol.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find one individual trapped in the wreckage. After extricating the victim, the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the individual deceased. The three other victims, who sustained major injuries, were quickly taken to nearby hospitals for urgent care and treatment.

In response to the accident, the California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert at 2:04 a.m., necessitating the closure of all westbound freeway lanes at Overland Ave. The duration of the closure was not immediately specified as cleanup and preliminary investigations commenced. Law enforcement has urged drivers to use alternate routes and avoid the area if possible during the investigation.

The California Highway Patrol is currently conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the collision. They are examining all factors, including vehicular malfunctions, road conditions, and potential driver impairment. Authorities have yet to release the names of those involved and are pending notifications to next of kin before any further details are made public.
