Jefferson Park, Los Angeles – A two-vehicle collision involving a Los Angeles Police Department cruiser resulted in the hospitalization of three individuals on Sunday, according to authorities. The incident occurred before 6 p.m. on Adams Boulevard near Gramercy Place.
At the time of the accident, the LAPD officers were responding to an aid request from the Los Angeles Fire Department concerning an emergency call about a psychiatric patient armed with a knife. During their response, their police vehicle collided with at least one other car.
Among those hospitalized were the two officers from the LAPD cruiser, who sustained minor injuries, and a civilian male who was critically injured in the crash. The civilian, extracted from the wreckage by emergency personnel, was reported to be breathing but unconscious at the scene.
The specific circumstances leading up to the crash have yet announced, and investigations are ongoing. The identities of the involved officers and the civilian have not been released. Authorities are urging witnesses and others with information related to the crash to come forward to assist with the investigation.
