In a tragic turn of events early last month, a stolen Lamborghini Huracán was involved in a high-speed crash that led to the death of the driver in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that 51-year-old Elliott Dugan lost his life after crashing the sports car while fleeing from police.
The incident occurred on April 6 at approximately 5 a.m., when officers located Dugan reportedly asleep at the wheel while stopped at a red light on Sherman Way at Reseda Boulevard. After officers approached and questioned Dugan regarding the Lamborghini he claimed to be a rental, it was discovered that the vehicle was in fact reported stolen and Dugan had multiple felony warrants outstanding.
When requested to exit the vehicle, Dugan engaged in an argument with the authorities and subsequently fled the scene upon being informed of the stolen status of the car. A police chase ensued with body and dash cam footage revealing Dugan reaching over 110 miles per hour on surface streets.
The pursuit came to a tragic end near the intersection of Vanalden Avenue and Sherman Way in Reseda, where Dugan lost control of the vehicle, veering into a center median and colliding with several trees.
