An early morning collision on the San Diego Freeway near Del Amo Boulevard, reported around 5:15 a.m., claimed the life of Officer Chad Swanson. The officer was transported to the hospital following the crash but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The northbound lanes between Avalon Boulevard and the 110 Freeway were shut down as a result of the incident. Further details of the crash have not been released yet by the officials.

In addition to his impactful career, Swanson was a survivor of the Las Vegas mass shooting at the Harvest Country Music Festival in 2017. His legacy endures, and he is survived by his wife and three children.
