One Fatality and Three Injuries Following Collision on 10 Freeway Near Palms

Early today, a catastrophic collision on the Santa Monica Freeway in Los Angeles claimed the life of one individual and left three others with significant injuries. The incident, involving three vehicles, took place around 1:50 AM on the westbound lanes near the Palms community at Overland Avenue.

The force of the impact caused one victim to become severely entrapped in the wreckage, leading to their untimely demise at the scene, reported the Los Angeles Fire Department. California Highway Patrol confirmed that three additional victims were transported to nearby hospitals, all sustaining serious injuries due to the crash.

Authorities issued a SigAlert following the accident, effectively closing all westbound lanes at Overland Avenue as emergency services responded and investigations began. The freeway closure, initiated at approximately 2:04 AM, remained in effect for an undetermined period while cleanup and preliminary inquiries were undertaken.

The California Highway Patrol is currently leading an investigation to establish the primary causes of the collision. Witnesses have been urged to come forward with any information that could assist in piecing together the events leading up to the tragedy.

As the clearing efforts continued, traffic was significantly impacted in the area. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. The identities of the deceased and injured parties have not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
