Authorities in South Los Angeles have identified the victim of a fatal car crash that occurred over the weekend. The incident, involving a single vehicle that collided with a light pole and subsequently an unoccupied building, claimed the life of the motorist.
The collision took place early Saturday morning at approximately 12:20 a.m. on westbound Manchester Avenue at the intersection with Central Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s report.
The driver, identified as 28-year-old Alejandro Banales, was pronounced dead at the scene. His place of residence has yet to be determined, as stated by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
In addition to the driver, a female passenger was in the vehicle at the time of the crash. She sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital; her condition has not been disclosed. Investigators are actively working to uncover the events leading up to the crash.
