A motorcyclist was involved in a high-speed collision during a pursuit with the California Highway Patrol on the 5 Freeway in Los Angeles. The incident, which started in Pomona and extended through Orange County, occurred on Friday evening.
Reports indicate that the motorcyclist reached speeds of approximately 100 mph, dangerously weaving between lanes before crashing near Atlantic Boulevard on the northbound side of the 5 Freeway at around 8:40 p.m.
The impact of the crash was severe, propelling the rider around 50 feet from the motorcycle. Desmond Shaw of KCAL described it as one of the “most intense crashes” he’s seen involving a motorcycle.
First responders at the scene noted that the motorcyclist showed signs of movement after the accident. Emergency medical services swiftly transported the individual to a nearby hospital. The current condition of the injured party has not been disclosed.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances that led to the pursuit or the crash. As the investigation continues, additional updates are expected to follow.
