LA County Officer Fatally Injured in Off-Duty Incident

In the early hours of April 12, 2024, Los Angeles County was struck by tragedy when Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Okamoto died following an off-duty vehicular collision. The announcement came through an official message by Sheriff Robert Luna on Friday night, confirming the loss that has touched the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD).

Deputy Okamoto had been a committed member of the LASD since 2017, during which time he served various communities in the South Bay area, including Lomita, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, and San Pedro.
