Montebello, CA – A fatal car accident claimed the lives of two individuals early Saturday morning in Montebello. According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened just before 7 a.m. and involved a single vehicle on the Slauson Avenue off-ramp leading onto the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway.
The vehicle, described as a tan sedan, was found stopped on the right shoulder of the off-ramp when authorities arrived at the scene. The two occupants inside the vehicle were pronounced dead at the location by emergency personnel.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded to the emergency call at approximately 7:44 a.m. Despite prompt arrival, there were no survivors to be transported to medical facilities.
As a consequence of the crash, traffic officials issued a Sigalert at 8:08 a.m. This alert necessitated the closure of the Slauson Avenue on-ramp onto the southbound freeway, which was expected to last for an indefinite period while the accident was investigated and cleared.
The cause of the accident has yet to be determined. The identities of the deceased have not been released pending notification of next of kin. California Highway Patrol is currently conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the dynamics of the crash.
Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes as the on-ramp remained closed, causing expected delays in the surrounding area.
