LOS ANGELES, Calif. — In the early morning hours of March 6, 2024, a tragic incident occurred on the Harbor (110) Freeway in the South Los Angeles area when a vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian. The accident took place near the Manchester Avenue on-ramp and emergency services were called to the scene approximately at 3:34 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) along with other first responders arrived to discover the body of the pedestrian in the traffic lanes of the southbound freeway. Nearby, a silver pickup truck was found with significant damage to its front end, indicating involvement in the collision.
Despite the swift response of the authorities, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has been withheld as officials await the process of notifying relatives. The driver of the pickup truck has not been identified in the report.
Following the incident, CHP officials initiated a SigAlert and proceeded to close off four lanes of the southbound freeway to launch an investigation into the causes and circumstances of the crash, an action that likely caused significant traffic disruption throughout the morning.
