South Los Angeles, CA (May 3, 2024) – A deadly collision occurred on the I-105 Freeway late Thursday evening in the Athens area of South Los Angeles. According to local authorities, a Prius came to an unexpected stop in the high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane west of Vermont Avenue at approximately 10:44 p.m. This led to a subsequent vehicle crashing into the stationary Prius, which then burst into flames.
The aftermath of the crash was severe, leading to at least one confirmed fatality. Emergency responders pronounced the individual dead at the scene.
