GLENDALE, CA (June 15, 2024) – A multi-vehicle accident involving at least three cars resulted in the death of a pedestrian on the Pasadena (134) Freeway near the Glendale (2) Freeway junction on Thursday night, police reports confirmed.
At approximately 10:13 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers arrived on the scene to find a pedestrian, later identified as 57-year-old Cervando Velasquez, fatally injured and lying in the eastbound lane alongside the damaged vehicles. The unfortunate incident led to Velasquez succumbing to his injuries at the scene.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway, with authorities reviewing all factors that may have led to the tragic event. In light of this incident, it highlights the persisting danger to pedestrians on the road. The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) reported a rise in pedestrian deaths, indicating a 4.8 percent increase in 2020 compared to the previous year.
