Fatal Collision Involving Trailer Hauling Portable Toilet in Studio City

A tragic car accident on the 101 Freeway in Studio City, Los Angeles, claimed the life of a firefighter recruit from the Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) on Monday, as they worked to assist victims of a multi-vehicle collision.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department conveyed their condolences to the family and associates of the deceased, stating that more information about the memorial service would be announced when available. As a sign of respect, a motorcade transported the body of the recruit to the coroner’s office around 10 a.m.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, around 5 a.m., on the northbound lanes at Campo de Cahuenga. The California Highway Patrol reported the incident involved multiple vehicles, one of which was hauling a portable toilet. The accident led to an early morning SigAlert, with 4 lanes being closed down during the investigation of the incident. The firefighter passed away at the accident spot, with the authorities withholding the name until family members are notified.

The first responders’ community held a solemn procession that concluded at the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office. The firefighter’s classmates from the fire academy paid tribute to their fallen comrade by carrying the casket, adorned with the American flag.
