An early morning collision between a train and a car in Pasadena, California, resulted in moderate injuries for the vehicle’s driver, who needed to be extricated by firefighters. The incident, which occurred this morning at approximately 9:20 a.m. on California Boulevard near Raymond Avenue, also left the train conductor with minor injuries. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to city spokesperson Lisa Derderian. The accident did not cause any injuries among the train’s around 50 passengers.
The crash is under investigation, with technology and witness accounts expected to aid in determining fault. The Pasadena City Council previously considered but ultimately rejected a proposal for a $400-million overcrossing at the intersection where the crash took place. Two prior collisions have also been recorded at this location. A Line train service has resumed on a 20-minute schedule following a temporary bus shuttle replacement during the incident’s aftermath. No further updates have been provided at this time, but the story will continue to be monitored for new developments.
