Los Angeles, March 8, 2024 – A high-speed pursuit ended in tragedy early Friday morning when a stolen vehicle crashed into a tractor-trailer in Los Angeles’s Westlake neighborhood. The incident occurred moments before 4 a.m., involving a party of alleged catalytic converter thieves.
The Los Angeles Police Department reports that the collision took place when four individuals in a stolen Dodge Charger, evading Rampart Patrol officers, failed to stop at an intersection on Witmer Street and collided with a large truck and its trailer on Wilshire Boulevard.
The severity of the crash required the Los Angeles Fire Department to extricate the car from beneath the trailer utilizing a crane. Once the vehicle was accessible, first responders were able to provide medical assistance to the occupants.
Authorities have confirmed that one of the suspects is in critical condition following transportation to a local hospital. Two others sustained minor injuries; however, the status of the fourth individual in the Charger remains undisclosed.
